I like to tailor my approach based on the individual and what he or she wants to accomplish. My philosophy is to work deep enough to be effective, maybe a little uncomfortable, but not painful. People sometimes believe that deep tissue massage has to hurt to be effective. That's not true. Too deep of work causes your body to tighten up even more to protect itself.
